How to Turn Your Cosplay Into Trading Cards

Kyle, founder of eras·October 2, 2026

How to Turn Your Cosplay Into Trading Cards

Every cosplayer already makes trading cards. You just call them photoshoots. The finished armor reveal, the first wig test, the con floor shot where the lighting finally worked: those are the moments your followers screenshot and save.

On eras, those moments become a real, limited set. Here is how it works and how to plan a good first chapter.

The format: one chapter, ten moments, 500 cards

A chapter is ten of your moments. Each moment is issued as 50 cards, so a chapter holds exactly 500 cards. When they are gone, the chapter is closed.

Every card lands on one of four rarity tiers:

TierOdds per pullPer moment
Platinum2%1 of 50
Gold8%4 of 50
Silver30%15 of 50
Bronze60%30 of 50

Fans buy $5 packs. Each pack holds one card, and the tier stays hidden until they open it. Then they can trade with each other to complete the set.

Picking your ten moments

A strong chapter tells a story. Some patterns that work for cosplay:

  • One build, start to finish. Pattern pieces, foam cut, first paint layer, weathering, the full reveal. Fans who followed the process get to own it.
  • A season of characters. Your ten best builds from this year, one card each.
  • A single con weekend. Arrival, the photoshoot, the group shot, the 2 a.m. repair in the hotel room.
  • Then and now. Your first cosplay next to your newest one makes a great Platinum.
Mix wide shots with close-ups. A crisp detail shot of a hand-sculpted prop often becomes the card people chase.

What you keep

The split is fixed and the same for every creator:

  • 88.75% of every $5 pack sale goes to you.
  • 5% of every resale, each time one of your cards changes hands on the marketplace.
  • The rest funds a collector rewards pool (10%) and a small platform fee.
Once you verify your identity through Stripe, you can withdraw your share to your bank. That is the split, not a promise of sales: what a chapter brings in depends on your audience and how you share it.

Publishing needs a creator membership, which is 10 credits a month and includes one free pack each month.

Getting fans to the drop

A chapter works best when you treat it like a merch drop:

  • Tease the set. Post one Bronze-tier moment a few days before and tell people a chapter is coming.
  • Show the odds. "Only one Platinum per moment" is a real hook, and the odds are published on every chapter.
  • Open packs on stream. Pull reactions are the best content a card drop can make.
  • Shout out the first Platinum. When a fan pulls one, celebrate it. Collectors love proof that the rare cards are real.

Why not NFTs or a print shop?

There is no crypto, no wallet and no gas fee. Fans pay with a normal card, in the app or on the web. And unlike a print run, you do not hold inventory or ship anything: the cards are digital, the rarity is enforced by the system, and resales pay you automatically.

Start your first chapter

Founding creators get a numbered founding badge and first placement in the marketplace at launch. If your builds already look like they belong on a card, see how it works for creators or join eras and set up your first chapter in about ten minutes.
